Wheal Busy - Hut 5 October 2002

Following the kind donation of their hut, by Veryan WI and the considerable amount of work undertaken primarily by Geoff Herbert in dismantling it, removal day arrived.

L P Stephens & Son very kindly provided us with a lorry and with the help of Noel, the driver, the hut has been relocated to Wheal Busy.

The hut needs alot of repair work and rebuilding.

A level site has been cleared thanks to Jacko and the loan of a JCB by Hewden Plant Hire.

What we did...

At 9.00am members and volunteers turned up at Wheal Busy to start the first day of work on the Observatory for Cornwall site.

During the day 26 members and other volunteers contributed 100 hours of time in clearing the undergrowth from the lane, disposing of rubbish and digging up the accumulated mud off the granite track.

The results are amazing and represent a great start to this project.

Wheal Busy - Lease - 21 February 2002

Following the agreement of terms and conditions the final version of the lease for a piece of land at Wheal Busy was agreed by the members and signed by the directors of the Observatory at tonight's meeting.

The principal terms of the lease are that it is for 99 years at an annual rent which has kindly reduced by Tregothan Estates in view of the charitable objectives of the Observatory.

Many thanks are due to Observatory member Paul Granville of Carlyon & Son solicitors who donanted his time in acting as our solicitor.
