| Wheal Busy is the site that we are planning to develop as the observatory. It benefits from a dark sky and clean air. At present it is a green field site but work has started to develop the Observatory. | |

The 2002 site preparation and self build project |

| This is our first project at the Wheal Busy site due for commencement in the spring of 2002 and completion by the Autumn. | |
| The project is to clear and prepare the Wheal Busy site and self-build a small observatory by the end of the year. | |
| The project will be undertaken by members and supporters on a voluntary basis and we hope that materials will be donated. | |
| The work involved includes ground clearance, trench digging, foundation digging and laying, blockwork, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and so on. | |
| We also need materials, in particular, timber, concrete blocks, electrical cable and fittings, plumbing fittings, etc. A detailed list of materials is shown below. | |
